I know it’s been awhile, but I have some amazing news! At a time where Black bodies are under constant assault physically, emotionally, and spiritually, The Pedestal Project, LLC and Melanated & Educated are partnering to spread a little more joy into our community. What better way to spread positivity than through note cards? The notes are simple, and we don’t have to know each other to receive one.

Q: Why are you all doing this?
A: Good question. If you’ve been a friend of Jamal’s for some time, you probably received a note or a card in the mail at a random point throughout the years. Jamal says that this is his way of “giving roses” while he is able. Tekita and Jamal decided that together, they can create more positivity and love at a time when it’s really needed. Thus #MelanatedPedestals was created. Also, who doesn’t love checking their mailbox and having a nice little note inside?
Q: When are notes going to be sent out?
A: After the survey closes, you will randomly receive a note within the next three months.
Q: What do I do if I signed up to receive a note and never got one?
A: Check your mailbox. If you didn’t get one, let us know!
Q: How do I join the writing team?
A: Send an email to Jamal Myrick (myrick.jamal@melanatedandeducated.com) and cc: Tekita Bankhead (pedestalprojectorg@gmail.com) and let them know you’re interested.
Q: Is it a huge commitment?
A: Being a letter writer is easy. We provide you with everything you need (materials, writing prompts, etc.). You can write one or as many as you want. This is all up to you.
